Sohyun Park

Born in South Korea, Sohyun moved to the UK at nine, where she began studying the piano. She progressed with stunning speed — by thirteen she had been accepted to Chetham's School of Music, the prestigious boarding school in Manchester renowned for producing some of the world's most gifted musicians.

After graduating, Sohyun was awarded a scholarship to the Royal College of Music, where she received a Bachelor of Music with Honours and a Master of Music in Performance with Distinction.

Her competition record is exceptional. While at the Royal College of Music she was named Norfolk Young Musician of the Year (2011) and won the piano prize at the Chappell Medal Competition. Since graduating she has taken First Prize at the Oxford Music Festival (2016), Third Prize at the Alion Baltic Music Competition (2017), Third Prize at the Piano Island Festival (2018), and Second Prize at the Nice Cote d'Azur Piano Concours (2019).

Yet Sohyun is far more than a competition winner. Hailed as most impressive by the Evening News, her performances are celebrated for their emotional breadth and exquisite narrative scope — a rare ability to draw audiences into the story of the music. She has performed at venues including the Royal Albert Hall and St James's Piccadilly, and toured internationally across Turkey, Bulgaria, Estonia, Italy, France, Germany, Reunion Island, Russia, and the USA.

She has performed concertos with the Nice Cote d'Azur Symphony Orchestra and the Danube Symphony Orchestra, and has received the admiration of distinguished musicians including Dang Thai Son, Xin Wang, Stanislav Loudenitch, Mikhail Voskresensky, and Adolfo Barabino. She continues to benefit from private studies with Xin Wang and Ian Jones.

Sohyun is currently a professor at a prestigious Russian Music School in London, where she coaches talented students from around the world.
